HEAD OF FINANCE (M/F/D) | CARBON REMOVAL – SUSTAINABILITY
Position available from:
THE ROLE
Backed by private equity and family office investors, PYREG is entering its next phase of international growth and professionalization. Historically, the company has invested heavily in research and development to build its leading technology position and establish a strong foundation for long-term success. The next phase will be defined by greater commercial focus, operational discipline, and scalable profitable growth.
We are looking for a high-caliber Head of Finance to join PYREG at a defining stage of its development.
This is not a narrow finance role. We are seeking a finance leader who can run the finance function with confidence and at the same time act as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team. The position reports directly to the CEO. The role requires financial depth, commercial judgment, and the ability to represent PYREG credibly in demanding internal and external settings.
The successful candidate will help shape the company’s next chapter of growth, transformation, and international scale. This includes supporting sophisticated customer and stakeholder discussions, contributing to strategic and operational decisions across the business, and helping position PYREG for the requirements of larger industrial customers and increasingly professional global markets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Own the finance function end-to-end, including liquidity management, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial governance across the group
Lead, develop, and grow a team of finance experts, fostering a high-performance culture and building the capability needed to support PYREG’s international expansion
Build robust financial transparency and project controlling in an international, capital-project-driven environment
Act as a strategic sparring partner to the CEO and leadership team on growth, profitability, performance, and business transformation
Represent PYREG towards board members, investors, customers, financing partners, auditors, and other key stakeholders
Support complex commercial discussions, including project financing structures, customer business cases, and carbon credit-related models
Ensure full regulatory compliance across all relevant jurisdictions, including oversight of tax structuring and transfer pricing within the international group structure
Contribute to company-wide optimization topics such as supply chain, cost structure, footprint decisions, and make-or-buy choices
Help drive the professionalization of PYREG into a highly capable international player serving demanding industrial customers
YOUR PROFILE
Strong finance background with the ability to lead the finance function independently and confidently
Broader strategic and commercial capability beyond finance, with the judgment to contribute meaningfully at leadership level
Experience in consulting, transaction advisory, private equity portfolio environments, industry players or similarly demanding professional settings is highly attractive
Exposure to industrial, project-based, energy, infrastructure, or clean tech environments is strongly preferred
Comfortable operating in a dynamic, scaling company and helping build structures, processes, and maturity
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to engage at senior level internally and externally
Entrepreneurial, hands-on, and motivated by the opportunity to help build a business of real substance and relevance
Fluent in German and English
WORKING MODEL
This is a full-time, permanent position and a hybrid role designed with flexibility in mind. We are very open to candidates who prefer to work largely remotely, with in-person presence at PYREG locations on a regular but selective basis, depending on business needs, collaboration, and key topics. The role is well suited to candidates from the Frankfurt/Wiesbaden or Cologne/Bonn regions and offers the flexibility expected in an international environment that operates across different markets and time zones. PYREG's headquarters are located in Dörth, Germany. We are looking to fill this role as soon as possible.
Annual leave: 30 days per year on the basis of a 5-day working week.
OUR COMMITMENT TO INCLUSION
At PYREG, we believe that diverse perspectives fuel the innovation needed to engineer a sustainable tomorrow. We know that talent comes in many forms and that great candidates often hesitate to apply if they do not check every single box in a job description. If you are passionate about the carbon removal industry and have a track record of industrial sales success, we encourage you to apply, even if your experience doesn't perfectly align with every qualification listed. We value potential, adaptability, and the unique value you can bring to our mission.
